Hello Friend!
We are Carla and Kenji, and along with Phil, our original Duck, we’ve spent most of our lives traveling the globe, discovering new places and revisiting familiar ones with equal wonder and curiosity.
We bring 65 years of combined experience in the airline, hotel, and hospitality industries. We know what makes planes stay in the air, ships sail smoothly, and even the tiniest travel hiccups can derail a trip. Over the years, we've uncovered some of the industry's best-kept secrets—insider tips that can make your journeys easier and more enjoyable.
Now, about Phil—how did he get his name? Carla found Phil during a cruise in Montenegro. He quickly became our travel companion—and yours—ready to accompany us on adventures. He's named after New Zealand native Phil Keoghan, the host of the American version of The Amazing Race. That's fitting because, just like the race, our travels are often quick, intense bursts of exploration—racing against time to see, do, and experience as much as we can over a 24 to 72-hour weekend, before heading back home for our day jobs.
Stop dreaming about travel and actually make it happen. While many people stick close to home on weekends, we’re out there—on the road, in the air, or even at sea—finding new places and revisiting old favorites, weekend after weekend to encourage you to expand your horizon.
Seriously, there’s no better time. Don’t keep telling yourself you’ll travel “someday” or wait until retirement to see the world. Even squeezing in a short trip can do wonders for your stress levels and give you a break from the usual grind.
Work-Life Balance
Here’s the thing: getting away, even for just a couple of days, is about more than snapping photos or checking places off a list. It’s a chance to reset—to collect memories, recharge your energy, and see things from a fresh perspective. Travel isn’t just about where you go; it’s a way of thinking that keeps you open and curious.
When you make your weekends count, those quick escapes can be both relaxing and genuinely meaningful. Your next adventure might be closer than you think. So, stay curious, take that first step, and start gathering the kind of stories that will make you want to plan the next trip before you’ve even unpacked. There’s no time like now to see where the road—or sky, or sea—might take you.
